Julie is an experienced trial and appellate litigator, who has appeared in matters before courts throughout New Hampshire, from local district courts to the New Hampshire Supreme Court, as well as the United States District Court and First Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to opening her firm, Julie clerked for several years at the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Julie’s years as a federal law clerk gave her first-hand, inside knowledge of how the judicial system works. She also worked in the Criminal Bureau, Appellate Division, of the New Hampshire Department of Justice, where she wrote several briefs to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.   • Negotiated $1,500,000 settlement in a fraud and unfair business practices case for the purchaser of an underground fuel storage tank business.
  • Defended a principal in a partnership dispute involving a Central American timber plantation facing multi-million dollar damages claims and achieved a $450,000 settlement for the client.
  • Obtained more than 100% recovery for investors who were defrauded in connection with a commercial building redevelopment project.
  • Negotiated a large financial settlement for a partner in a limited liability company in a “business divorce” proceeding.
  • Negotiated a multiple damages settlement in a suit against an internet travel services company.

Criminal Defense

  • Successfully represented a finance company executive under investigation for allegedly fraudulent practices in connection with life insurance premium finance policies.
  • Represent indigent defendants before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit as a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel, including charges for: possession and distribution of controlled substances, bank robbery, possession of child pornography, wire fraud and conspiracy.
  • Represented individuals before the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire on charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute controlled substances and wire fraud.
  • Represented individuals before all levels of New Hampshire state courts in a variety of matters, including charges for: underage possession of alcohol, unlawful possession of controlled substances, driving under the influence, hit and run, theft, and breaking and entering.

School Disciplinary Proceedings

  • Represented students in university disciplinary proceedings resulting in settlement of charges.
  • Successfully appealed university discipline proceedings resulting in students being allowed to return to school.
  • Represented students in private preparatory school proceedings resulting in all charges being dismissed.
